Roberta Scirea
Clinical psychologist, integrated mind-body approach
Who I am
I am a Clinical Psychologist (MS, LM-51, summa cum laude), licensed with the Lombardy Board of Psychologists (Section A), with international training in Integrative Nutrition Health Coaching through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (New York) and Duke University’s Department of Integrative Medicine.
My clinical work focuses on mind–body health, with particular attention to body awareness and to mild or remitted eating-related patterns. I work extensively with emotional dysregulation, anxiety, and chronic stress, supporting adults and young adults who experience difficulty maintaining a stable relationship with their body, emotional experience, and food. Many of the individuals I work with present with heightened stress activation, internal instability, or a sense of bodily disconnection, often accompanied by fluctuating energy levels and emotional reactivity.
An integrated clinical pathway between lived experience and science
My clinical orientation has developed over time through the integration of personal experience, scientific training, and interdisciplinary study. I have personally navigated periods of reduced energy, brain fog, digestive difficulties, hormonal imbalance, and hypothyroidism, gaining first-hand insight into how physiological dysregulation can profoundly affect emotional and cognitive functioning.
These experiences initially guided my work toward life coaching and later shaped a more structured clinical framework grounded in psychology and integrated health. My professional path has been informed by the study of emotional regulation models, affective neuroscience, psychosomatic psychology, and integrative nutrition. Central to my work is a careful consideration of the gut–brain–microbiota axis, neuroendocrine and inflammatory processes, and their role in emotional stability, vitality, and cognitive performance.
An international and systemic clinical perspective
My professional development has unfolded within an international and multicultural context. I lived in New York for nearly a decade and have worked and trained across multiple Italian cities, the United States, Canada, and Europe, including advanced training experiences in Paris. This background has fostered a broad, comparative clinical perspective—open to dialogue across disciplines while remaining firmly anchored in scientific rigor.
Within this framework, I have also studied Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Ayurveda as complementary interpretative models for understanding mind–body self-regulation processes. These systems are integrated as conceptual lenses rather than therapeutic replacements, supporting a more nuanced and systemic reading of psychophysiological balance.
My academic background in Art History has further shaped my clinical sensitivity, strengthening my ability to view balance as a dynamic interplay of interconnected parts. This perspective informs my work with internal alignment, emotional coherence, and body image–related experiences, helping individuals identify and reorganize elements of their experience in ways that foster stability, integration, and self-attunement.
